GENERATION CARE HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL RUNSTRONG 5K
GRAND HAVEN, MICHIGAN, June 1, 2018 — Generation Care, a local rehabilitation and wellness center, hosts their second annual RunSTRONG 5k.
On Friday, July 13, 2018, Generation Care will be holding their second annual RunSTRONG® 5k event at 16760 Lincoln St.— their Grand Haven clinic location. The event will include a Tot Trot for younger children and a 5k option for all other participants, on a USATF certified course. All ages, walkers, and strollers are welcome. Age group awards and monetary prizes will be awarded to the overall top three female and top three male participants. The Tot Trot will begin at 6:45 PM and the run will begin at 7 PM. A post-race party will follow the run.
All proceeds from this year’s race will benefit myTEAM TRIUMPH, a non-profit athletic ride-along program created for children, teens, adults, and veterans with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races. The price per participant is currently $25 but will increase to $30 on July 7, 2018.
“Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success,” shares Race Director, Scott McKeel. “We had over 200 runners last year and this year we are expecting to have at least 300.” McKeel is a physical therapist with Generation Care and is also the leader of the RunSTRONG classes held at Generation Care’s Muskegon, Grand Haven, and Grand Rapids clinics. McKeel ran the Boston Marathon this past April and placed 256th overall and ran the marathon in 2:44:02. Generation Care’s RunSTRONG is a strength and conditioning program designed specifically for runners to decrease injury risk and improve performance.
