Mike’s Story – Journey to the NYC Marathon

Mike’s Story – Journey to the NYC Marathon

There is nothing better than when a patient sends us a story like THIS! Read about Mike’s physical therapy journey and how working with Generation Care Doctor of Physical Therapy and RunSTRONG leader, Scott McKeel, made a difference!

In his own words – here’s Mike’s story:

I didn’t want to let another day pass without taking a moment to say THANK YOU for all of your PT efforts over the last couple of months! Not only did you make my participation possible, but you made it pleasurable, which I might have doubted was possible when we first started working on my back a couple of months ago. I felt awesome through the entire event and do now even after it! The abductor issue never surfaced during the entire event and only chirped ever so slightly after we were done. I had an exceptional time running it with my daughter that I know would not have been nearly as enjoyable had you and I not worked together. Thanks so, so much!

The event itself was incredible. From the expo through 26 miles of massive crowds, blaring bands, and screaming people it was fantastic. The best marathon experience that I have ever had. Though the day was overcast and misty, it was a perfect temperature for a marathon. My daughter met both Deena Kastor and Kara Goucher and had pictures taken with them so that was pretty exciting for her. We were also within a very short distance of Shalane Flannigan when she was giving one of her interviews so that was pretty cool also. We hadn’t finished the event by an hour and my daughter was already talking about what she would do differently for the next one. Thanks for getting me to a point of being able to share the event with her!

I truly feel that I could go out and run without issue right now but intend to take a week or two off. Maybe I’ll run Kevin Aardema’s Turkey Trot for Thanksgiving. After that though, I’d like to get back into a routine so I can ramp up Boston training.

Scotty, I can’t say thanks enough! The experience of the NYC Marathon was incredible and I know it would not have been possible had you not worked so hard to help me resolve my physical issues. You nailed it! You’re awesome to work with! Hope to see you at RunSTRONG next month. Thanks again!!

Until our paths next cross again,
Mike Z.”
