Helen’s Story – Overcoming Parkinson’s Related Symptoms
This is why we do what we do! Read Helen’s story and how working with speech-language pathologist, Elizabeth Turner is helping her to overcome symptoms of Parkinson’s disease at our Muskegon clinic!
“When Helen was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, she was unaware of how far she had regressed in her speech. Elizabeth has helped Helen to gain a greater understanding of her condition, her speech, and just how much it has affected her in daily life. She gave Helen new hope and encouragement through weekly therapy visits.
The improvements to her speech were dramatic and made us realize just how far she had regressed. Before therapy, Helen had become very quiet and soft-spoken. She rarely spoke above a whisper. The therapy has also helped in her reading too, which is something Helen enjoyed doing very much but was unable to do.
The personalized care that Elizabeth gave was very personable, caring and relatable. She treated us and talked to us as if we were friends that she cared about. It was a pleasure to have met her and had the chance to work with her. She has improved Helen’s quality of life and we are blessed to have met her.
