Physical Therapy
Physical therapy at the Grand Rapids Performance Center is a medical, hands-on approach to relieving pain and restoring function. Our therapists are medical experts in musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and work closely with physicians to evaluate, identify, and eliminate the source of your pain. We focus not only on treating your condition but also on helping you prevent future injuries from taking place.
Concussion Therapy
As concussion symptoms decrease, our trained and experienced athletic trainers and physical therapists work closely with the athlete, referring physician(s), parents and coaches to make sure the concussed individual is ready to return to play or activity without fear of long-term effects like
- Balance issues
- Coordinated eye movements
- Light and hearing sensitivity
- Short-term memory and cognitive function
- Headaches
Persistent Pain
Chronic pain is more prevalent than heart disease, diabetes, and cancer combined. The good news is that it is treatable and there is hope with therapeutic pain science. A better understanding of pain has allowed for new, cutting-edge treatments, which have shown improvements in even the most complex pain problems. We are here to help at the Grand Rapids Performance Center.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy (OT) at the Performance Center can help you reduce the pain you’re feeling while doing everyday activities of living or doing your job. Everyday movements can be intense when you’re suffering from hand pain, wrist pain, or elbow pain. Occupational therapy can help
- You recover from an injury and get back to daily life without pain
- Assist you with cognitive changes that happen as you age
- Help your child with sensory processing difficulties, fine motor skills, and coordination
Dance Enhancement
Whether you are recovering from an injury, want to improve your flexibility, achieve better lines, or get stronger, it is important to work with a professional with knowledge in dance medicine. It doesn’t matter where you are in your dance career. We work with dancers of all ages and skill, from pre-pointe to professional ballerinas. If ballet isn’t your thing, we help gymnasts and dancers with contemporary, modern, hip-hop, ballroom and tap focus as well.
