Low Vision Awareness Month

Low Vision Awareness Month

February is Low Vision Awareness Month!

Did you know? Currently, 4.2 million Americans ages 40 and older are visually impaired? By 2030, when the last baby boomers turn 65, this number is projected to reach 7.2 million, with 5 million having low vision.

Generation Care Occupational Therapists can work with you or someone you know on a variety of vision conditions that impact daily life. We strive to help those with low or impaired vision live productive and satisfying lives as independently and safely as possible.

Common difficulties caused by vision impairment:

  • Reading
  • Cooking
  • Identifying items
  • Writing
  • Watching TV

Low vision conditions may include but are not limited to glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. We can also provide home assessments to determine what low vision modifications can be recommended – such as strategies for better lighting.

If you are seeking vision rehabilitation please do not hesitate to contact us at one of our locations.

Generation Care offers Vision Rehabilitation at all three locations: Grand Rapids, Muskegon, and Grand Haven.
