Dry Needling – Isn’t that acupuncture?

Dry Needling – Isn’t that acupuncture?

Isn’t acupuncture and dry needling the same thing? Although they may look really similar they are very different techniques. Dry needling is another form of soft tissue mobilization that has been shown to effectively treat chronic pain, headaches, tendinitis, bursitis, sprains/strains, and acute injuries.

In a chronic pain state, our brains and bodies do not communicate well. When a needle is inserted into the body, the brain can no longer ignore it and begins to move the body out of a generalized pain response into a more positive attentive state. While the brain does this, we use manual therapy to help guide the body through releases of joints, muscles, nerves, and ligaments. This improves movement, coordination, and balance as well as decreases pain and calms the nervous system. Every person is different, so try it and see how your body responds! You might just be amazed at what you find!

Dry Needling therapy is an option at all Generation Care clinic locations. Contact us to set up an appointment!
